Myra Sweet

August 28, 1945 —– October 23, 2021

Myra Faye Sweet, our Granny and Momma, was called home to our Lord on October 23rd, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after a short illness.

Myra was born on August 28th, 1945 in Hornet, Missouri to Charles “Hick” Woodard and Audra Woodard, who preceded her in death.

After many years in the medical field, she met and married her true love and soul mate, Donald Sweet, who preceded her in death, November 2018.

After retiring, Myra devoted her time and energy to reading, crafts and traveling where she, Don and family would fish, camp, and tell many stories while laughing around a campfire.

She is survived by their four children, Tammie Dawn Loyd (Jason), Darcy Rae McDermott (Bryce), Kyle Sweet (Amy) and Kim Sweet and twelve grandchildren; Danielle, Holly, Lisa, Bryn, Samantha, Ashlee, Jayson, Morgan, Kaitlyn, Jordyn, Kasen and Kash and 6 great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include her brother Timothy Woodard (Darlene) of Columbia, Mo.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, Mo.

  1. I so admired and looked up to my Aunt Myra growing up. She was beautiful and had a successful career when most females did not choose this path. She will be missed but never forgotten.
