Carmelo Angelo Salvador Tabone (Sonny) passed away on Friday, Augst 13, 2021 at Truman HealthCare, Lamar, where he was a resident for the last 4 years. He was born on November 4, 1936 in Rochester, New York to Carmelo and Ellen (Farley) Tabone. He spent 2 years after school as a member of the New York Army National Guard, Private 1st class and promoted to specialist 4th class before his honorable discharge.
During his time in the Army National Guard, he married the love of his life, Pearl Leona Morrow on February 18, 1956 in Rochester, New York. He worked in a grocery store for several years before he brought his wife and 4 girls to South Greenfield, mo. They had one more daughter a few years later. After the move to Mo, Carl worked for Golden Business Forms until his retirement in 2012. He was able to say the he never missed a day of work in the 46 years he worked there. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time as well as tinkering (fixing) things. He was an amazing husband, father and grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law James Newland, sister-in-law, Thelma Newland, bother from New York; brother-in-law, David Serianni, of New York; brother-in-law, George Morrow of Greenfield, Mo and grandson, Brandon Shackelford, Lamar, Mo.
Carl is survived by his wife of the home, Pearl Tabone, sister Marie Serianni, Pennfield, NY, 5 daughters, Donna (Steve) Smith, Webb City; Belinda (Alan) Aytes, Neosho: Barbara (Bryan) Floyd, Joplin; Suzanne (Gene)Shackelford, Lamar and Georgia (Mike) DeWitt, Kenoma; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great granddaughter.
A Memorial service will be held Sunday September 5, 2021; at 208 Poplar St, Lamar, Mo; A visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. followed by a service officiated by Reverend Galen Friedriches at 3 p.m.. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
