September 17, 1928 — April 20, 2021Shirley Ann Hale Rhuems, 92 of Pittsburg, KS, died April 20, 2021 at Via Christi Hospital. Shirley was born September 17, 1928 in Pittsburg, KS and is the daughter of Harry H Hale and Nellie Mae Powell Hale Bennett. Shirley retired from the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in 1990 as a supervisor. Shirley married Robert Rhuems and they later divorced. Shirley had 4 children, Joyce (Jerry) Chancey of Florissant, Mo, Sharon Vandris of Rogers, AR, Ken (Tina) Rhuems of Joplin, MO and Mark (Diane) Rhuems of Catoosa, OK. Shirley had 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, watching her hummingbirds and traveling. She was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church. She missed her church friends when she later moved to Gran Villa Asst Living and then to Via Christi Village. Shirley is survived by a sister Betty Hardy of Clarksville, IN and preceded in death by two brothers Winfield Hale and Eugene Hale and four sisters Geneva Fowler, Dorothy Baker, Winona Kelso and Emma Diell. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Shirley will be buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, MO.
