Fred W. Daugherty

December 30, 1928 – December 18, 2020

Fred W. Daugherty passed away on December 18 at the age of 91. Born in Cushing, Oklahoma, his family soon moved to Joplin for work. He grew up in Joplin, attending Joplin High School and Pittsburg State University. He joined the Army during the Korean War where he served as a drill sergeant at Fort Leonard wood. He married Barbara Robinson in 1955 and started his career as a math teacher and basketball coach in Diamond, Mo. He also taught in Monett before spending many years in Webb City as high school principal and Assistant Superintendent. After retiring, he went to College Heights Christian School as principal for 15 more years.
He is preceded in death by his son Bryan in 2017 and his wife Barbara in February of 2020. He is survived by daughter Robyn Galindo, husband Steve, and 4 grandchildren, Kayleigh Daugherty, Colin Daugherty and wife Cristiana, Tyler Galindo, and Lauren Galindo.
Fred and Barbara received the Lord in 1972 and served him throughout the res of their lives. Fred had a love for teachers and students. They all knew he loved them. He was referred to as an “iron marshmallow” by a colleague. He was a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, boss and friend. He always said, “I know where I’m headed!” and we know he is with his savior.
