Ricarda L. M. Higgins

January 2nd, 1940 – July 19th, 2020

Ricarda Louise Marie Higgins, age 80, passed away on July 19th, 2020 due to the Coronavirus. She was born on January 2nd, 1940 in Berlin, Germany. She attended an all-girls Catholic school. She became a nanny to three children in her early 20s. Later, she became a receptionist, which is where she met Chester Higgins, whom she married in America, 1971. She and Chester had two children.

Ricarda became a stay-at-home mom to her two daughters, Patracia and Cindy. Sadly, Patracia preceded her in death in 1985. Cindy has had two children of her own, Faithlyn and Christian Whitehead. Ricarda loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was expecting a great-grandson, Liam Whitehead, in September of 2020, but unfortunately, Ricarda passed before she could meet him.

Ricarda, also known as “Ricky” by her friends and family, was a very intelligent and classy lady. She could speak three languages: German, French, and English. She was also  apart of many programs at the Senior Citizen’s Center, including Meals on Wheels. Ricarda enjoyed art, poetry, and community programs.  She was known to be independent and very well-kept, and a wonderful cook. Ricarda loved to spoil her kin and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite phrases was, “If you smile at the world, the world will smile back.” She was loved by many and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
