Celebrating a beautiful life of service to God, Wanda Fay Calvin, 84, went to her forever home on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Oscar T. Mapes, mother, Gertie M. Mapes, her brother, William Mapes, and her sisters, Mary Broadwater, Lillie Kolkmeyer, and twin sister, Dorothy Kern. Also preceding her in death was her son, Mark Calvin, grandchildren, Amy Ruth and Jason Olyaie, and great grandchildren, Matthew Walker and Kalob McBride Eldridge.
She leaves three children, Belinda McBride (Gene), Cheryl Calvin, and Pamela Fanning (Tim), along with four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, with another on the way. She also leaves her sister and best friend Grace (Gene) Day.
Wanda enjoyed her career working with the autistic and mentally and physically disabled at the Joplin Workshop before retiring. Everyone who met her experienced her sweetness, kindness and her deep love for her family.
Visitation and services will be held Friday March 13, 2020 at Royal Haven Church, 3700 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, TX 75244. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am with the service immediately following at 11:00 am.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Ozark Memorial Cemetery, 415 N St Louis Ave, Joplin, MO 64801.
