Larry Jay North, age 79, of Commerce, OK, passed away at home early Saturday morning on February 22, 2020 surrounded by family after a short illness. He was born August 1, 1940 in rural Chetopa, KS. He was the son of William E. and Sarah Elva (Jennings) North. Larry Married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Dora Flannigan on December 3, 1960. He is survived by his wife Dora and two sons; Duke and wife Lori of Riverton, KS, and Dusty and Heather North of Commerce, OK. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Logan (Ashley), Maycee, Landon (Courtney), Grant (Macey), Lane, Halle, and Loch; four great-grandchildren Laken, Lynkin, Emery, and Archer, and two siblings Alline (Joe) and John (Charla), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings Earl North, William North Jr., Wanda LaFalier, and Walt North. He worked for B.F. Goodrich, Bayliner, and Bagcraft. He spend his free time for years playing, coaching and umpiring baseball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and his favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandbabies. Family, friends, and all others who had the pleasure to know Larry are invited to his celebration of life at Grace Community Church on Thursday February 27th at 11 AM and visitation will follow after the service. A private interment at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory in Joplin.
