Tracy Grant Smith was born July 27, 1960 in Joplin, MO. He was a lifelong resident of Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School.
Tracy passed away in his home on October 1, 2019, at the age of 59.
Tracy was trained as an electrician. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department, and a number of electrical service companies. He recently started his own business. Hunting and fishing were his passion and he spent years as a professional guide. His hunting dogs were a source of joy. As a young boy, Tracy was a talented baseball player and he carried this love all of his life and shared it with his father and his brothers. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and at the time of his death was gathering documentation to support his application to the Sons of the American Revolution.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Jay Smith, and Peggy Lee (White) Smith. He is survived by his loving partner Meredith Yenzer, brothers; Dallas (Lisa) Rhodes of Sante Fe, NM, and Ricky Lee (Susan) Rhodes of Punta Gorda, FL, and numerous other members of his extended family and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life for Tracy will take place at the Butcher’s Block in Joplin on Monday, October 7th from 6-8 PM. Tom Perry will officiate.
