Verdenal Joseph “Joe” Cooley, 58, Sadly, but peacefully passed away in his home Wednesday August 21, 2019. Joe was born March 21, 1961 in Alameda, CA to Earl and Carol Cooley. He obtained his bachelor’s degrees in Fire Science from Butte College. After moving from California to Missouri he continued to be a support manager at Carthage Walmart for 25+ years.
Joe devoted his life to having fun and helping others. Whether it is telling a joke or helping you with “his” way of fixing things. He truly showed you that he cared about his family, friends or anyone needing a hand. He was an avid trout fisherman who was also a talented artist and enjoyed attending auctions and playing bingo with his wife. Joe will truly be missed by everyone in his life because he could bring a smile to the face of anyone.
Joe is survived by his wife of 39 years Rochelle Cooley, of Golden City, MO; Brother, Bert Cooley, of Redding, CA. Daughters, Heather Porro, of Victorville, CA: Jessica (Rocky) Piercefield, of Seneca, Mo; Sons, Justin (Cecili) Cooley, of Joplin, MO; Jonathan (Steffi) Cooley, of Ozark, MO; and 11 grandchildren, Liam Johnson, Carl and Elias Cooley; Andre, Alexis, Ethan, Gwenyth, Vincent, Victoria, Mason, and Madison Porro, of California, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Carol Cooley and his Brother Wes Cooley.
Services will be held on September 1st at 1pm at the Carthage Municipal Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Rochelle Cooley 2415 Fairlawn, Carthage, MO 64836.
He will be laid to rest with his parents and brother in Yuba City, CA on October 19.
