Carole Dean Newberry was born in Healdsburg, California on September 25, 1945 to William Harvey Hoke and Letha Mae Hoke. She passed away, at the age of 72, on February 4, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Letha Hoke.
Carole loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed taking her horses on trail rides for charity events and collecting carousels and horse memorabilia. She was a high-spirited woman and very strong willed. She will be forever known for her tenacity.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Ketch and husband Rick of Great Bend, KS, David Lewis and wife Katrina of Muskogee, OK, James Lewis and wife Janice of Muskogee, OK, Sandy Wells and husband Johnny of Carterville, MO and Linda Miller and husband Frank of Joplin, MO. She is also survived by a brother, John Hoke and wife Carrol of Joplin, and a sister, Imogene Devins and husband Terry of Joplin. Carole had 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at Joplin Family Worship Center on Saturday, February 10th at 2:00 PM. Flowers may be sent to Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin.
